I chose the above quote as the theme for this message because I find myself, at times, overwhelmed by all that should get done in any given day. While we have all heard the expressions, which come in many forms, reminding us that each day is a new day, one of my “goals” for this year is to make every effort to remember that each day is in fact a new beginning that holds opportunity. I try and convey this message to my students/members who have a hard time letting go of the disappointment associated with a poorer than hoped test result.
Admittedly, my success in this regard (as to them and me) is better on some days than others.
Your Board members and I hope that you had a very good summer and that you are looking forward to fall and winter. Please rest assured that during this time, your Board members have been busy making decisions as to how best to improve the benefit of membership for you to achieve our goal for this year, “Dedicated to Your Success”.
So, to improve the membership experience for each of us, please make sure to take advantage of the many learning opportunities that the Texas State Association of Parliamentarians (TSAP) and the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP) has to offer. Please get involved in TSAP, on a committee or volunteer your time. Any Officer, Director or I could explain how to do it – just ask!
Also, in that regard, and as something simple, if you come across an article or item of interest that you think others should see, please either send it to me at Ed@EdwardMMoore.com or Deborah Arrington, Editor of the Texas Parliamentarian at Deb.Arrington@att.net. We will then make sure that others get to see it by making it a part of our newsletter.
The TSAP Board of Directors will meet in San Antonio, Texas on Friday, January 25, 2019, at the Downtown Holiday Inn, 318 W César E Chávez Blvd, SA, 78204 at 5:30pm. On Saturday, January 26, a parliamentary workshop with the best parliamentary educators in the country will be held at the same location.
Finally, TSAP is planning an eventful and educational annual conference in Tyler, Texas, on May 3 – 5, 2019. Details will be forthcoming, look for them. I hope to see each of you there. In the meantime, stay well and happy!
